TRT for men in Waldo ME is becoming commonplace when it comes to looking after men’s overall health, and for good reason, low testosterone levels, which have been dropping for decades, or non-optimized testosterone levels, can lead to a condition called Low T, or low testosterone that in turn leads to many men’s health issues and concerns, ones that if treated with properly administered testosterone therapy monitored by professionals at medically directed TRT clinics, combined with optional hormone optimization, can be mitigated or removed altogether. It doesn’t have to be this way. You can feel yourself again!

TRT for Men in Waldo MEYou know something isn’t right and it will help

You just don’t have “it” anymore. That energy. That vigor, gusto, stamina, whatever you want to call it. You used to have it, and now you don’t. You do your best to take care of yourself, but your body is just not responding like it used to. Or, perhaps, you lost your will to strive for it at all. It’s a problem, but it’s not just your problem.

TRT for Men in Waldo MEYou are not alone, and like others you can regain that balance

It is estimated 40% of men aged 45 years and older are testosterone deficient, and that percentage is likely much higher. That means close to 50% of all men need TRT.

TRT for Men in Waldo MEIt’s not your fault, but you can do something about it

Testosterone levels overall are down by 50% in the last 50 years and continues to plummet.

Why the Need for TRT for Men in Waldo ME – Why has Male Testosterone Plummeted?

In the 2007 publication of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology, researchers Travison et al reported the conclusion of their 20-year study in which they found a significant decrease in male testosterone levels independent of age, and that testosterone levels have been in decline at the rate of 1% per year for the last 50 years and continuing to fall.

In 1992 it was reported in the British Medical Journal by Carlsen et al., that male sperm count is down by 50% over the last 50 years and is continuing to decline.

US birth rate has declined by 1/3 in the last 50 years.

We have a problem.

The Endocrine Society reports that over the same span of 50 years, the global production of plastics has risen from 50 million to 300 million tons per year.

Our environment is saturated in endocrine disrupting chemicals.

The food we eat. The water we drink. The air we breathe. Our kitchen surfaces, the office supplies, the receipts we collect from the grocery store. Alcohol, medication, and household cleaners. Our systems are under attack.

This huge toxin load is disrupting our endocrine system in irreparable ways, mimicking hormones such as phytoestrogens and xenoestrogens, and blocking hormone function.

Additionally, other factors such as stress and obesity wreak havoc on our endocrine system. The stress hormone cortisol is known to disrupt Leydig cells, the testosterone producing cells of the testes. Chronically elevated cortisol can drive blood glucose and insulin imbalances.
The visceral fat that surrounds the organs of overweight people supercharges inflammation and the enzyme aromatase. Increased aromatization drives testosterone levels down, and estrogen levels up.

It is not all doom and gloom. There are many interventions we use to successfully mitigate these harmful effects, but nonetheless, they are ever present and will continue to drive hormonal imbalances if left unaddressed.

TRT for Men in Waldo MEMen, There is no Normal Level of Testosterone, Just an Optimized Level for you

We don’t think what’s “normal” is necessarily right for you. Nothing against your doc, they just don’t know hormone science like we do. A 2019 Mayo Clinic survey reported that less than 7% of general practitioners are equipped to manage hormone health issues. They just don’t know. If they don’t know, how can they possibly advise on TRT for men in Waldo ME?

TRT for Men in Waldo MEWhat we Know About Testosterone Therapy and Men

We know that insufficient levels of testosterone can cause fatigue, loss of muscle mass, loss of libido, ED, brain fog and anxiety. But did you know that low testosterone is also correlated with obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and all-cause mortality. It’s kind of a big deal.

This is why Harvard professor, urologist, and testosterone pioneer Dr. Abraham Morgentaler argues that testosterone values may be the most important lab to ascertain. We agree. TRT for men in Waldo ME can offer those suffering with these ailments and conditions a possible solution to their lingering health challenges. But not any TRT for men’s program is optimized for success. Optimizing testosterone for men requires a deeper look at a complete panel of other hormones so we can optimize your overall hormone panel, making your TRT program really work for you. There is a treatment synergy you get when you optimize all hormones in concert. You need results, not a check in a box that says you have treatment, you need more than that, you need successful treatment.

TRT for Men in Waldo MENot all TRT Clinics are Equal in Support of Men’s TRT

We now see the rise of pop-up testosterone boutiques, unregulated supplements that promise to elevate your T, conflicting data, and a general lack of education making it nearly impossible for guys to know where to get help. We are changing that.

IHAC is a medically directed telehealth clinic, meaning we have an MD (and a Governor-appointed State Surgeon, and we do mean to brag) James Kelly, as our co-founder. Our other founder, Physician’s Assistant Bill White, first discovered the life-changing benefits of testosterone replacement therapy, TRT for men in Waldo ME over 10 years ago serving our veterans as a Captain in the army. Bill saw the powerful affects TRT had on the recovery of our soldiers, both men and women, suffering from physical and mental health ailments. His passion to change lives through this therapy has now spilled over into the public sector.

What does this mean for you? Our providers know how to prescribe TRT for men in Waldo ME, well women as well, and they do it the best. As a member of our clinic, you will receive intake and evaluation, a dosage protocol exactly tailored to your needs, and on-going monitoring and care. We do not prescribe outside of therapeutic ranges. Our providers work to reach and maintain the therapeutic level that is just right for you. We trust that you know your body best, so your experience is central to this. We think you are going to enjoy being at the helm of your own health, finally.

TRT for Men in Waldo MEIt’s not Just About Testosterone Treatment at IHAC it’s About Your Whole Health

TRT for Men in Waldo MEMen, What can you Expect From Your TRT Program

So, what can you expect from your TRT program? Dr. Greg Brannon in his book The Hormone Handbook puts it this way, “I can honestly say that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is the closest thing to the Fountain of Youth available to us right now in the twenty-first century.”

Testosterone is an anabolic hormone, the hormone of creation. It replenishes our cells and strengthens our organs and systems. Testosterone gives your body power to put in more effort, and it makes that effort feel really good. Men, TRT is for you!

TRT for Men in Waldo METestosterone therapy can Improve and Address Many Health Issues and Concerns

There is a large body of evidence demonstrating testosterone treatment, or TRT as it is often known, improves libido, vigor, muscle mass, well-being, body composition, bone density, anemia and more in men of all ages. Not to be macabre, but losing muscle mass, and later sarcopenia, is a significant contributor to death for men. After the age of 40, muscle loss starts to accelerate. Keeping a thick slab of muscle on your body is a powerful way to ensure you stay strong and vital for a long time. Men, TRT can help.

Additionally, despite early studies casting doubt on the safety of TRT for men in Waldo ME (and numerous follow-up studies failed to since support those early conclusions) we know that testosterone has a favorable safety profile and most recently has demonstrated cardio and breast protective benefits.

Discussion on Safety of Men’s TRT

Despite the successful use of testosterone replacement therapy for men and women since the 1930’s, a study released in 1941 by Huggins and Hodges cast a dark cloud over the safety of TRT, and it remains to this day. They reported that prostate cancer is activated by testosterone therapy. Curiously and unfortunately, for the next 60 years, the fact that their study included results of only 1 hormonally intact male was widely overlooked.

But since then

In 2014 the Journal of Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Disease, researchers Cui et al., conducted a meta-analysis which showed no difference in prostate cancer rates rates for men who received testosterone vs placebo.

In 2016 Lancet Diab Endocrinology, researchers Wallis et al., demonstrated a greater reduction in prostate cancer risk with greater duration testosterone therapy.

In 2023 Harvard Medical School Symposium, Dr. Abraham Morgentaler stated we do not have evidence to support high endogenous testosterone or testosterone therapy increases prostate cancer.

There are no randomized controlled large studies demonstrating safety yet.

IHAC practitioners carefully assess the safety for each client and will coordinate care as appropriate.

Cardiovascular Considerations

In 2009 Journal of Impotence Research, researchers Maggio et al., reported low serum testosterone levels are an independent risk factor of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.

In 2011 Journal of American College Cardiology, researchers Ohlsson et al., found higher serum testosterone levels are associated with a reduced risk of fatal and nonfatal CV events in community dwelling elderly men.

In 2015 Mayo Clinical Proceedings, Morgentaler et al. reports, “In summary, there is no convincing evidence of increased CV risks with T therapy. On the contrary, there appears to be a strong beneficial relationship between normal testosterone and cardiovascular health that has not yet been widely appreciated.”

In 2022 Elsevier, Hudson et al. meta-analysis of more than 3000 patients, “We found no evidence that testosterone increased short-term to medium-term cardiovascular risks in men with hypogonadism.”

In conclusion, we know there is a strong correlation for low testosterone and increased cardiovascular events, and conversely, a growing body of evidence showing that healthy testosterone levels have cardioprotective benefits.

The safety of women receiving hormone therapy has also been widely and seemingly unfairly scrutinized.

In 2002 a media frenzy ensued when the Women’s Health Initiative reported an increased risk for cancer and cardiovascular events for female’s receiving hormone replacement therapy, obscuring the fact that the reported excess risk was clinically meaningless, at two events per 1,000 person-years. The therapy in question was a conjugated estrogen pill made from mare urine. Follow-up studies failed to support these finding. Despite that, the damage was done, and all forms of female hormonal therapies were drastically halted.

In 2021 the results of the largest long-term study, The Testosterone Therapy and Breast Cancer Incidence Study, demonstrated that testosterone or combination testosterone and estrogen therapy significantly reduced the incidence of breast cancer in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. This is the second multi-year long-term study demonstrating that testosterone demonstrates breast protective benefits.

Since the 1930’s it was known that testosterone therapy was beneficial for pre and postmenopausal women. By 1947 there was enough evidence to suggest it was an effective and appropriate treatment for women, yet in the proceeding decades, medical and societal bias persisted.

We agree fully with the following passage by Abraham Morgentaler, “The true outrage is that social forces and hysteria have combined to deprive men (and women) of a useful treatment without regard for medical science.” Morgentaler A. Testosterone, Cardiovascular Risk, and Hormonophobia. J Sex Med 2014;11:1362–1366.

IHAC practitioners carefully assess the safety of treatment for each client and will coordinate care as appropriate.

Telehealth and Your Testosterone Treatment – Hormone Replacement and Optimization Therapy

Telehealth services are commonplace today, and for good reason, especially for patients seeking testosterone replacement therapy and other hormone optimization services. Traditional brick and mortar medial offices tend to be placed in more populated areas with access to lots of patients, but this makes finding the best doctor and medical staff more of a geography issue than a medical one. You should be able to choose your medical providers based on who is best for the job, not based on proximity. It becomes an unfortunate barrier to quality healthcare. When selecting a medical team to care for your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), telehealth via medically directed organizations is a great option. You deserve access to MD directed quality care regardless of location. The laboratory values needed to optimize your TRT are easily obtained with standard labs at most collection facilities. Once we get you registered at our clinic, we will prepare your lab orders and send them to the draw station of your choice and at your convenience. Once we have your lab results, and you have been thoroughly evaluated for symptoms, an appropriate therapeutic course will be set for you.

Telehealth minimizes inconveniences to your life, while maximizing your access to quality medical management of all your hormone optimization needs.
